Looking for a fun, screen-free activity your child will actually enjoy this coming Summer school holiday?
Food Playground’s Kids Holiday Cooking Camps are 2-day hands-on culinary boot camps in Singapore for juniors aged 9-12 and teens aged 13-18. Children learn to cook real food from scratch, practise food hygiene, handle kitchen tools safely, and build confidence in a warm small-group studio environment.
Presented by ARLA, title and product sponsor:
ARLA supports the camp through quality dairy ingredients used in selected recipes and a take-home goodie bag with useful kitchen products your child can continue using at home.
Learning Outcomes
1. Learn to bake and cook real food, not just decorating cupcakes
2. Learn food hygiene, kitchen safety and fire-safety awareness
3. Learn how to incorporate high-quality healthy ingredients in recipes
4. Learn how high-quality ingredients affect flavour, texture, and cooking results
5. Learn important life skills from the kitchen like confidence and independence
Whether your child is kneading dough or whisking up a storm, they’ll learn real-life cooking skills while having a blast – and yes, they’ll even bring the recipes home to impress you later. Spots are filling fast!
This course will be conducted at our own fully equipped cooking studio in Chinatown. Each class will have an intimate learning environment with a ratio of 1 instructor to 4 learners for Junior Camp, and a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 learners for Teens Camp. Upon successful completion, each student will receive a certificate of achievement as well as lots of wonderful memories to bring home!
Safety Is Built Into the Boot Camp
Children learn more than recipes. They are taught food hygiene, safe ingredient handling, proper handwashing, careful use of kitchen tools, heat awareness, and what to do around smoke, hot equipment, or unsafe situations. Our studio’s fire alarm, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and related safety equipment are regularly inspected and tested.

Singapore has many kids cooking camps, baking workshops, and holiday culinary programmes. Food Playground is best suited for parents who want a focused, hands-on, screen-free cooking experience where children build confidence, learn practical kitchen skills, and enjoy making real food in a supportive environment.
Why parents choose Food Playground:
1) Screen-free holiday time: Children stay engaged with real cooking, not devices.
2) Hands-on confidence: Kids actively cook rather than only watch.
3) Motherly guidance: Stay-home mother instructors are comfortable handling children with patience and warmth.
4) Practical life skills: Children learn skills they can keep using at home.
5) Beginner-friendly: The programme is designed to feel supportive, not intimidating.
6) Halal-friendly recipes: The page highlights recipes suitable for families looking for halal-friendly options.
7) Junior and teen formats: Parents can choose a session that better matches the child's age and confidence level.
8) Meaningful mission: Your booking supports a business with a social purpose of helping disadvantaged local women return to the workforce.
Food Playground's Kids Holiday Cooking Camps are designed for juniors and teens who are ready to cook real food, not just decorate cupcakes. Children learn practical cooking skills, food hygiene, kitchen safety, basic fire-safety awareness, and confidence through hands-on participation in a real studio kitchen.
The Junior Boot Camp is designed for children aged 9 to 12. The Teens Boot Camp is designed for ages 13 to 18. Separate age groups help children learn at a pace and maturity level that better matches their stage.
Junior Boot Camp sessions run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 7-8 July, 14-15 July, 21-22 July, and 28-29 July 2026. Teens Boot Camp sessions run on Thursdays and Fridays: 9-10 July, 16-17 July, 23-24 July, and 30-31 July 2026.
Each camp runs over 2 consecutive half-days in the morning. This gives children enough time to learn, practise, and build confidence without making the programme feel too long or overwhelming.
Children learn proper handwashing, food hygiene habits, safe ingredient handling, careful use of kitchen tools, heat awareness, basic fire-safety awareness, station organisation, and how to follow multi-step cooking instructions with confidence
Yes. The camps are suitable for older children and teens who may be new to cooking, as long as they are ready to listen, follow instructions, and participate safely in a real kitchen environment.
Food Playground's instructors include stay-home mothers who are comfortable guiding children with patience, warmth, and practical supervision. This matters because a good kids cooking camp is not only about culinary knowledge; children also need reassurance, clear instructions, and encouragement.
Safety is built into the camp experience. Children are taught food hygiene, safe ingredient handling, careful use of tools, heat awareness, and basic fire-safety awareness. Parents should also inform Food Playground before booking if their child has allergies, medical concerns, or specific care needs.
