The Case for Healthy Cooking: learn a lifelong skill to nourish ourselves, relieve stress and thrive!

> Do you want to inspire your co-workers to cook more often?
> Do you want to have your colleagues learn a useful lifelong skill?
> Do you want to encourage your team to cook more healthy, plant-based dishes?
> Do you want to bond with one another over healthy food?

Taking a short amount of time to prepare a healthy meal with whole ingredients nourishes our bodies and give our brains a break, a moment of respite away from our workplace and devices. We believe that most people want to cook and eat healthier, but they never had the opportunity to learn how to do it. While providing your employees with healthy recipes is a great start, we believe that the most impactful change is made when they’re also taught the building blocks of healthy cooking and basic nutrition knowledge.

Our corporate healthy cooking classes are designed to educate and inspire your team to create healthy meals that are not only good for the body, but also taste great! Led by experienced chef Shalu Asnani, our classes are fully hands-on, interactive, fun and informative.

Our classes are not just about plant-based cooking, but also about learning how to live a healthy lifestyle with helpful nutrition and eating tips. In addition to promoting employee wellness, our cooking classes can also help boost productivity and morale. By providing your team with the tools and knowledge they need to make healthy choices in the kitchen, you will be setting them up for success both in and out of the office. A healthy workforce is a happy workforce!

Meet The Lead Instructor

Shalu Asnani is a private chef and the owner of Little Green Kitchen, a vegetarian cooking studio and food consultancy based in Singapore.

She conducts cooking classes (private, group and corporate events), offers menu planning, consulting and private dining services. Her niche is healthy vegetarian food panning all styles - Asian street food to modern Western cuisine. The former lawyer’s goal is to prove that vegetarian food can be exciting by offering tantalizing recipes through her cooking classes, private chef and consulting services.

The self-confessed foodie’s foray into the world of professional cooking was first born in Beijing at renowned cooking school,The Hutong, where through serendipity, she found herself at the helm of their various vegetarian cooking classes. Fast forward a few years later, Shalu now holds a prestigious diploma from Cordon Vert, the U.K.’s leading vegetarian culinary school, a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies at e-Cornell, has worked with celebrity chef Bobby Chinn and cooked for Dr. Jane Goodall.

In recent years, Shalu has developed areas of specialization within the niche of plant-based cooking including menus that are gluten-free, vegan, low-carb, child-friendly and superfood-rich. Her goal is to continuously develop plant-based meals that are not only inherently appealing but able to cater to a wide range of dietary restrictions.

Success Stories

"When developing the concept of Something Fresh, we knew we needed a consultant chef with a real passion for sustainable, healthy eating while also having a strong creative flair to bring a sense of life to the meals we were providing. Shalu’s dishes not only received fantastic customer feedback but also tremendously outperformed other items on our menu in terms of flavour, design and ultimately sales. Her recipes and advice were extremely easy to follow and tailored perfectly for our needs. Shalu’s friendly personality and professional service made her an absolute pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend her to anyone interesting in learning the meaning of truly great food!"

Shawn Alwani - Something Fresh HK, Hong Kong

"Shalu is a very good teacher whose explanation is clear and comprehensive. I appreciate her patience in answering the many quetsions we had, some very inane! The lesson is very well-organised and timed, with everyone having time to be sufficiently involved. Something I take away which is probably quite unique to Shalu’s classes is the healthy, wholesome meals made out of just vegetables. For a meat-eater, this is something I didn’t imagine I would enjoy…but I did!"

Celina, Singapore

Very nice class. The dishes are not too difficult to make so I will for sure make it at home. I am eager to learn more about vegetarian cooking. We will definitely come back with the Belgian association to do more classes! Thank you as well for the nice explanation."

Kelly Wambeke, group class with Belgian Association Singapore

"I have taken cooking classes wherever I can on our travels: Indonesia, Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, Vietnam, and here in Singapore. BUT the recipes I get from Shalu are the ones I cook at home. They are simple, easy, packed with flavour, and low in fat. In the class I learn where to source the ingredients, the nutritional plusses of the ingredients, variations on the ingredients. The classes are small and the talk around the table during class is invaluable to a newbie."
